BossPac Engineering & Technology, a Canadian manufacturer of unique and proven products for the Oil and Gas industry, is proud to introduce the new SLEEPSENSE feature to the BossPac WASP™ Sensor line up.
In an effort to balance near constant condition monitoring and provide a healthy sensor battery life, the SLEEPSENSE feature allows the WASP Puck to “take a nap” when velocity, acceleration and temperature values are below user defined thresholds or limits. The wireless sensor continues to monitor conditions but does not transmit the values until there is an abnormality. The WASP then wakes up, transmits the data to the BossPac WASP NEST receiver/gateway and alerts you of the problem.
SLEEPSENSE not only extends the battery life of the WASP sensor but provides the operator with the confidence that their machinery is being monitored on a near constant basis - without the hassle of running wires or constantly replacing batteries.
Highly configurable, the user can determine thresholds and alarm limits for Acceleration, Velocity, and/or Temperature for each sensor.
Please call BossPac at (403)216-1226 to discuss how the BossPac WASP™ featuring SLEEPSENSE can be configured to fit your own specific needs.
REM Technology Inc. (RTI) has signed an agreement with BossPac Engineering Technology to be the exclusive master distributor for the BossPac WASP Early Compressor Valve Leak Detection products in the United States. The WASP system is unique in its ability to provide wireless vibration and temperature data for each individual compressor valve providing compressor operators with the ability to detect early valve failures. The wireless puck technology can be easily mounted to each valve cap using a powerful magnet or screwed in as required. A receiver then samples each puck at an adjustable frequency and analyses and stores the data to determine the valve condition. The receiver has a 485 modbus output that can be used to connect to any PLC or engine/compressor control system for further analysis and action.
The WASP system and be configured as a permanently mounted system or as a portable system used for routine analysis or troubleshooting.
REM Technology Inc. is a technology development company specializing in providing solid, proven optimization, monitoring and control technology for reciprocating machinery. Our technology usually comes in the form of a packaged control system with our application software and application-specific engine/compressor modifications, sensors and end devices to deliver customer-expected results. Our technology can also be offered as components or stand-alone applications that can easily interface to existing customer control and monitoring systems.
RTI's two flagship products, REMVue® and SlipStream® are used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and VOC's from natural gas compression facilities and improve the efficiency of reciprocating engines. These technologies also capture vented emissions from such facilities for use as a supplementary fuel source.
BossPac Engineering and Technology is a Calgary, Alberta-based research and development firm specializing in the design and manufacture of robust condition monitoring equipment targeted for use in the hazardous and harsh environments within the oil and gas sector. Beyond the BossPac WASP, the company's product line includes:
BossPac 3 Axis Vibration Transmitter/Switch featuring an onboard display of velocity and acceleration as well as analog and digital outputs.
BossPac Divider Block Monitor and Blue Box data logger provides No Flow, Low Flow, and Over Flow alarms. The system also logs daily totals of lubrication rates.
BossPac Chemical Injection Control System which uses a combination of analog and digital inputs to control the injection rates of both solar and pneumatic chemical injection pumps.
All products developed by BossPac are designed for easy integration into existing PLCs and SCADA systems or can be connected to www.yourSCADA.com – BossPac’s cost-effective Satellite Callout and control system allowing remote compressors and chemical injection sites to be monitored and controlled.

BossPac has been heavily involved in field trials of the new WASPTM wireless vibration and temperature condition monitoring system for the last couple of months with great success. We have been working with several major oil and gas companies to monitor critical assets with this system.
We are curremtly looking for more demo sites and are taking pre-orders for the 2011 Q1 WASPTM system release.
For more informaiton please see the Products Section - Compressor Products or download the Brochure or Specifications Sheet.
Please contact BossPac if you would like to take part in field trials of the WASPTM system.
